Here is a quick summary of the various plan types and contribution limits:

 

401K

·        $23,500 if under age 50.

·        $31,000 if age 50 or over

 IRA

·        $7,000 if under age 50

·        $8,000 if age 50 or over

 Roth IRA

·        $7.000 if under age 50

·        $8,000 if age 50 or over

 Simple IRA

·        $16,500 if under age 50

·        $20,000 if age 50 or over

Health Savings Account (can roll over from one year to the next)

·        $4,300 (self only)

·        $8,550 (family)

 Flexible Spending Account (use it or lose it)

·        $3,300
